What Happened

A fire broke out in the main workshop when a grinding operation ignited accumulated oil and grease residue on the floor beneath the work area. The fire spread rapidly along the oil contamination trail to nearby waste oil drums. The workshop fire suppression system activated and contained the fire. Workshop personnel evacuated safely within 90 seconds using emergency exits.

Why It Matters

Workshop fires involving flammable liquids can escalate rapidly and generate toxic fumes. The fire in this event was contained by the suppression system, but had it not activated, the proximity of waste oil drums and compressed gas cylinders could have resulted in a major explosion.
